Welcome to Giraffe Class
Our Teacher is Mr Hancock
We follow our 3 Golden Rules:
1. Follow instructions straight away
2. Care for everyone and everything
3. Show respect and good manners at all times
We are also practicing Fantastic Walking when moving around the school
Our Math's learning focus:
We will be continuing to develop our knowledge and understanding of multiplication and division, as well as developing and consolidating our reasoning and problem solving skills.
Our English learning focus:
We will be exploring our class novel ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, by Roald Dahl. We will be developing our character description and persuasive writing skills. By the end of this unit, we will have written our own character descriptions and persuasive adverts, having used our class novel as our inspiration. In addition, we will be working hard to develop our grammar and punctuation skills.
Our Theme in Term 3 is:
‘Should we eat Chocolate?’
During this unit of work, we will be looking at where chocolate comes from and the impact it has on our lives, including healthy eating. We will also be developing our cross curricular learning.
In D.T., we will be making our own brand of chocolate, through persuasive advertising. In R.E., we will be finding out about Christianity. In P.E., we will focusing on working as part of a team. P.E. is on Monday and Thursday.
Please ensure that your child's P.E. kit is always in school and clearly labelled.
Our Core Learning skill this term:
Our Core Learning Skill is Becoming Better Learners. We will be focusing on the skills needed to improve our own learning and developing strategies to overcome barriers to learning that we face, remaining focused on a task, avoiding distractions and deciding which conditions help us to learn best. Children will understand that people learn in different ways and that there are different strategies to learning effectively. There is a Core Learning Skills lesson each week and there are opportunities to practice our Core Learning Skills all week across the curriculum.
At the end of this theme we are going to celebrate our learning with..
A D.T. week, with a Dragon’s Den finale.
Your involvement.. We would welcome Parent volunteers for Wednesday afternoon swimming.
We believe it would be extremely beneficial for your child, if you:
Listened to them read at least five times per week and helped them to learn their weekly spellings. This will further support their class learning.
