Our Maths learning focus
We will be learning to develop our knowledge and understanding of fractions and decimals, as well as continuing to develop and consolidate our reasoning and problem solving skills. We will continue to focus on our times table and related division facts.
Our English learning focus
We will be exploring a range of poetry and creating our own poems. We will be developing our poetic skills by using a wide range of poetic devices. By the end of this unit, we will have written a range of different poems and different themes.
We will also be writing poems around trees, which will be entered into Somerset Literacy Network Competition.
Our Theme is…
In Term 3 our Topic is ‘Forces, Magnets and Electricity’
During this Unit of Work, we will be completing a wide range of scientific experiments and developing our knowledge of forces, magnets and electricity.
We will further be developing our cross curriculum learning. In Forest School we will be developing our understanding of forces. In RE we will be looking at the Easter Story. In Art we will be using a range of techniques to develop our landscape drawing. In PE, we will focusing on working as part of a team. Our PE lessons will be on a Wednesday and Thursday afternoon.
We will be doing Forest School on a Tuesday afternoon.
Our Core Learning skill this term
Our Core Learning Skill this half term is Knowing Me, Knowing You. Pupils will be focussing on developing their personal and social skills. Lessons will involve self awareness, managing feelings and understanding and supporting the feelings of others . We will explore the importance of being a good friend and listener and help to develop the children's abilities to make good choices. There is a Core Learning Skills lesson each week and there are opportunities to practise our Core Learning Skills all week across the curriculum and during whole school assemblies.
