Our Maths learning focus
We will be learning to develop our knowledge and understanding of place value, refine our written strategies for calculations, as well as developing and consolidating our multiplication and division facts during Fast Learning.
Our English learning focus
We will be exploring our class novel ‘The Promise’ by Nicola Davies, focusing on developing our reading response skills. By the end of this Unit, we will have written our own diary entries, having used the novel to develop our sentence structures and ideas. In addition, we will be working hard to develop our grammar and punctuation skills.
Our Theme is…
This Autumn, our Topic is ‘Lights, Camera, Action’ with a focus on light and sound.
During this Unit of Work, we will be developing our scientific skills to investigate how we hear and how we see. Our class will learn about how sound is made and the best material to reflect light.
We will also be developing our cross curriculum learning. In Art, we will making our own musical instruments, In RE, we will be finding out about Christianity. In PE, we will have PE on Monday afternoon and Thursday morning.
Our Core Learning skill this term
Our Core Learning Skill is Learning with Others. We will be practising the skills needed to learn effectively with others in order to boost our learning. We will be practising collaboration; how to negotiate and compromise and the best ways of actively listening to others as well as supporting and encouraging other learners to persevere with tricky learning. Core Learning skills are incorporated within lessons across the whole curriculum.

A musical performance, using our classroom made instruments.
