Welcome To Our Class Page

Welcome To Our Class Page 1
The final half term has arrived. Welcome back Leopard class - I'm looking forward to lots of fun learning and discovery! Mr Tait

Maths and English

Our Maths learning focus ...

In maths, we are continuing our learning on units of measurement. Soon we will be focusing on shape (properties of shape), position and direction, and statistics.

Our English learning focus ...

We are looking to complete our topic book ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’ within the next week and look to consolidate our Spellings, punctuation and grammar skills. After this, We will look to join Giraffe class in focusing on plastic pollution and recycling and will be writing a  persuasive letter to the Prime Minister and our Local MP about plastic pollution. We are also creating factual posters and leaflets about this subject.

Our New Topic

This Summer, our Topic is How is it different to live on an island?’

This is a geography-based topic, focusing on islands. During this Unit of Work, Leopard Class will study islands and oceans; specifically the island that we live on: UK, and the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. We will also find out about how islands were formed, how they were adapted for living by humans, and ultimately, how humans have altered island environments for their own purposes.

Our topic will allow our children to experience and discover geography, science, history, art, and music, all in connection with islands.

Zoe has created an island cake, linked with our topic. An excellent idea and very tasty too!

Science Week: We managed to complete 8 incredible experiments in Science Week!

Class Assembly

Leopard Class would like to thank all the parents that came to watch the assembly today. The children did fantastically well and the assembly was completely child led. This goes to show the level of maturity, knowledge and endeavour that the children of Leopard Class can produce. Very proud!

History Week has been a great success. We managed to delve into local history, as well as history in art, the Victorians and had a brilliant time for our 'decade day' (80s).

Jodie Jones from Leopard class, took part in a talent contest and got to the final event in Devon. Well done Jodie!! You have shown courage and that you have a great singing voice.  Here is Jodie's rendition of Beauty and the Beast from her final performance.

Out Of This World

Our 'Out Of This World' topic was fantastic fun. The children discovered all about our world and the solar system, through English, science, maths, history and even dance, in PE!
