Leopard: Year 4/5

Welcome to our Leopard Class page.

WW1 Tank Building

Bovington Tank Museum Trip

Rosie Jones created this fantastic PowerPoint based on her research of Highwaymen, which was linked to our English Topic. Rosie also performed a skit based on this, in our class assembly. Well done Rosie!

In Maths we are currently still challenging ourselves with our fractions. So far we have looked at: equivalent fractions, proper/improper and mixed number fractions, fractions on a number line, fractions of whole numbers and adding fractions. The children have been using their Singapore maths (part, part, whole) bar modelling method to help them.

We have just finished our topic poem on The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes. The children thoroughly enjoyed this poem and topic, allowing them to explore all kinds literacy techniques, genres and styles. The children finished the unit by creating their own poems, some of which were read out in our class assembly, at the end of term.

Our topic last term was linked to the Highwayman, exploring the history and facts of that era. This summer term we are going to be taking our learning outdoors! We will be looking at plants and animals in their habitats. We will be spending lots of time in our Forest School area and we are hoping to have a competitive growing competition between ourselves and Lion Class.
