Leopard Class would like to thank all the parents that came to watch the assembly today. The children did fantastically well and the assembly was completely child led. This goes to show the level of maturity, knowledge and endeavour that the children of Leopard Class can produce. Very proud!
Maths and English
Maths: In Maths, we are finishing learning about fractions and decimals. Soon, we will be moving our focus towards measurement. We are also in full swing of our new approach to fast maths and are having great joy in practising all four operations on a regular basis.
English: In English, we are about to start our new topic book Kensuke's Kingdom, written by a well loved author in our class, Michael Morpurgo. This book will set the stage for many different pieces of English learning; Including: descriptive writing, balanced arguments and news reports. We are also continuing to challenge ourselves daily with spelling, punctuation and grammar, as well as looking at our inference skills and comprehension in reading.
Our New Topic
This Summer, our Topic is ‘How is it different to live on an island?’
This is a geography-based topic, focusing on islands. During this Unit of Work, Leopard Class will study islands and oceans; specifically the island that we live on: UK, and the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. We will also find out about how islands were formed, how they were adapted for living by humans, and ultimately, how humans have altered island environments for their own purposes.
Our topic will allow our children to experience and discover geography, science, history, art, and music, all in connection with islands.
