Our Teacher is Mrs Barnes

We follow our 3 Golden Rules:

1. Follow instructions straight away
2. Care for everyone and everything
3. Show respect and good manners at all times

We are using our 'Fantastic Walking' when moving around the school.

Our Maths learning focus:

We will be focusing on multiplication and division during this term. Year 2s will be using these skills to apply to 2, 5, and 10 times tables. They will make making equal groups, identifying them and adding those groups to understand multiplication. They will be using repeated addition and arrays support solving calculations. Year 3s will be using their prior knowledge from Year 2 to apply multiplication and division strategies to 3, 4 and 8 times tables. They will also be learning to multiple numbers using formal methods.

Our English learning focus:

We will reading the book 'Daisy Saves the Day' and using this to write effective character descriptions. Then we will be using an animation set in the Victorian Era called the ' Girl and Robot' to write a story. Later in the term, we will write diary entries from the perspective of a child in a workhouse. Our spellings will be sent out each week and children have the opportunity to use Spelling shed or their spelling books to practise. They will also be set assignments on Spelling Shed for individual spellings to practise.

Our Theme in Term 3 is:

During this topic, we will be looking at amazing significant individuals during the industrial revolution.

We will be looking at Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Mary Seacole and Thomas Barnado. All these individuals revolutionised transport, social understanding and children's living standards.

In Science, we will be looking at materials and their properties and thinking like engineers and in Year 3, we will be looking at light and the linking this to Art to make shadows to make silhouettes.

Our PE focus is Gymnastics so we will be making different shapes with our bodies and in class we will be using yoga to support mindfulness and make different shapes.

Please ensure that your child's P.E. kit is always in school and clearly labelled.

Our PSHE skill this term:

Jigsaw  PSHE— Dreams and Goals

During this term’s PSHE topic we will be looking at ourselves and how we can make small changes to reach our dreams and goals. We will be setting realistic goals and discussing what we need to do to get there. We will be looking at teamwork and how working together helps us reach our goals and become successful. We will be working on our growth mindset to overcome challenges and persevere.

At the end of this theme we are going to celebrate our learning with..

A video about our learning.

Your involvement..

We would welcome Parent volunteers for reading with the children - please let Mrs Barnes know if you can spare some time.

We believe it would be extremely beneficial for your child, if you:

Listened to them read at least five times per week and helped them to learn their weekly spellings. This will further support their class learning.

This term homework will be sent out every Friday and due in on the Wednesday of the next week.

Our Key Value this term is:

  • Tolerance
  • Respect
  • Understanding
  • Strength
  • Trust
