Forest School will be every Monday afternoon for Autumn Term 1. Please make sure your child brings in old clothes.
Our Maths learning focus
We will be learning to develop our knowledge and understanding of thousands, we will be focusing on place value, addition and subtraction. We will be develop our reasoning and problem solving skills. We will be focusing on our timetables knowledge, by using timetables RockStars.
Our English learning focus
This term we will be focusing on our sentence structures and embedding our knowledge of phrases and clauses. We will be writing non-chronological reports, recounts and narratives. We will be researching and collecting a range of information and facts about teeth and the digestive system and bases our writing around this. Our class novel is ‘The Lucky Escape’ by Dr. Heather Manley.
Our Theme is…
In Term 1 our Topic is ‘From Plant to Poo!’
During this Unit of Work, we will be completing a wide range of scientific experiments and focusing on teeth and how the digestive system work.
We will further be developing our cross curriculum learning. In Forest School, we will be developing of plant growth. In RE, we will be looking at the religion of Hinduism. In PE, we will focusing on developing our co-ordination skills. Our PE lessons will be a Thursday afternoon.
We will be doing Forest School on a Monday afternoon and Swimming on a Wednesday afternoon.
Jigsaw PSHE—Being Me in My World
During this term we will be focusing on working as a class team, also our rights, responsibilities and democracy. We will be exploring the importance of rewards and consequences and what motivates behaviour. We will be working on group decision making and having a voice.
By the end of the unit we can explain why being listened to and listening to others is important in my school community. Also, explain why being democratic is important and can help me and others feel valued.
At the end of this theme we are going to celebrate our learning with..
