Forest School will be every Friday afternoon for Summer Term 1. Please make sure your child brings in old clothes.
Our Maths learning focus
We will be learning to develop our knowledge and understanding decimals, money and time, as well as continuing to develop and consolidate our reasoning and problem solving skills. We will continue to focus on our times table and related division facts.
Our English learning focus
Our key text for English this term is ‘The Fireworks Maker’s Daughter’ by Philip Pullman. We will be focusing on our SPaG skills by developing our sentence structures and using a wider range of vocabulary. By the end of this unit, we will have written our own fantasy stories.
Our Theme is…
In Term 4 our Topic is ‘Inside the Human Body’
During this Unit of Work, we will be exploring and undertaking experiments on how the stomach and intestines work. We will also examine the importance of teeth.
We will further be developing our cross curriculum learning. In Forest School we will be developing our understanding of life cycles. In RE we will be looking at the religion of Islam. In PE we will focusing on working as part of a team. Our PE lessons will be on a Monday and Thursday afternoon.
We will be doing Forest School on a Friday afternoon.
Our Core Learning skill this term
Our Core Learning Skill this half term is Think, Think. The children will be taught techniques and strategies to support their development of Thinking Skills. The strategies taught will focus on the thinking processes involved in solving a task. The unit involves Creative Thinking, Problem Solving and Reasoning. The children will have opportunities to listen to stories with a message and answer some open ended questions designed to get them thinking. For example, If cats could talk what would you ask them?
There is a Core Learning Skills lesson each week and there are opportunities to practise our Core Learning Skills all week across the curriculum and during whole-school assemblies.
